Joseph Spada, LPN
Management: Joseph Spada, L.P.N., founder, is a Certified Geriatric Care provider and geriatric nurse of 25 years with extensive background and expertise in long-term care. His health career started at the University Hospital in Geneva, Switzerland. Over time he served in several departments such as orthopedics, rehabilitation, and finally settling in the emergency room. He came to the US in 1985 and studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and other natural health modalities before moving to Seattle in 1989. In Seattle he worked at Foss Home where he provided rehabilitation care and nursing assistance to the elderly prior to starting Spada Homes in 1990. He has tutored nursing students for North Seattle Community College, served as President for the Sno-King Adult Family Home Association, and taught Community First Aid & CPR, and First Aid in the Workplace as a Red Cross instructor.
As an elder care specialist, Mr. Spada also volunteers his expertise and guidance free of charge to seniors and families, helping them to make informed decisions with all matters relating to elderly care. He manages and supervises the care and operation at Spada homes.
In his own words, Mr. Spada notes that...
"...adult family homes have become the new standard for long-term care. Most seniors like the home setting, and the high degree of personal attention is unmatched. And adult family homes offer one of the least costly long-term care option - a wise choice during these economic times."
Engagements: Mr. Spada is available to speak on elder care and adult family homes related topics, as well as sit as a panel member for round table discussions and "think-tanks".
Staff: We employ only nursing assistants registered or certified (NA-C or NA-R) who are caring and mature to provide residents with 24/7, round-the-clock care. At a minimum, all our caregivers receive a criminal background check prior to starting (repeated every 2 years), and all are qualified with:
- First aid
- CPR
- Fundamentals of Caregiving
- Nurse Delegation
- Food handling permit
- Tuberculosis testing
- AIDS/HIV & infection control training
- 10 hours of continuing education each year
Additionally, every staff receives at least 16 hours of on-site training to meet the specific needs of your loved one.
