“You'll be glad to know that at Spada Homes, your loved one will receive some of the best care available in the nation!”
A report from the Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS) stated that more than 91% of nursing homes (NH) in the United States are operating at staffing levels too low to provide “minimally necessary” care, and labor shortages are expected to worsen due to slashed funds.
According to that same report, more than 40% of NH's would have to increase nursing-aid staff levels by at least 50% to reach the "minimum patient needs." (McKnight's Long-Term Care News, vol. 23, no. 3, March 2002.) The average time a nursing home staff spends with each resident for morning care is 7 minutes! (Seattle Times, 2/20/2002.)
Spada Homes is well above the national average with a ratio of 1 to 2 staff for 6 residents maximum. This translate to an average of about 4.3 hours per client per day, plus a licensed nurse on staff!
The national average is 1.2 hour.
